Karan has 25 years of financial markets experience, primarily within Latin America and Emerging. Karan was responsible for Latin America at Nomura Securities & Barclays. Before joining Barclays, Karan was the Head of Global Markets for Latin America at Deutsche Bank, overseeing the strategic expansion of Latin America and leading to record revenues and top league table positions. Prior to his time at Deutsche Bank, Karan spent fourteen years at Merrill Lynch where his last roles were the Global Head of Local Currency Trading (2004-2008) and the Head of Latin America. Karan received an MBA from the University of Chicago in 1995, and a B.A. and B.SC. degree from Swarthmore College. Prior to earning his MBA, Karan worked at the World Bank and the United Nations. Karan lives in New York with his wife Rati and their children Arjun and Ishan.
